Cheese Base

  • 8 oz softened cream cheese Provides a rich, creamy base.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Adds a tangy twist.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Adds brightness.
  • 1 dash salt To taste.
  • 1 dash pepper To taste.

Cheddar and Dill Mix-ins

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Divided for mixing and coating.
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped dill pickles Provides a refreshing crunch.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill With extra for coating.

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, fresh lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Beat together until smooth.
  • Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese and the finely chopped dill pickles. Add the fresh dill and mix gently.
  • Spoon the mixture onto plastic wrap and shape it into a ball. Chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours.

Serving

  • Before serving, combine the remaining cheddar cheese and fresh dill on a plate. Roll the cheese ball in this mixture. Serve with crunchy dippers.

Notes

For an elevated flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or spices such as cayenne pepper or paprika. If you want a touch of sweetness, a tablespoon of honey can enhance the taste. Chilling the cheese ball longer allows for deeper flavors to develop.
