Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and ensure the crab meat is cleaned and flaked.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, bell pepper, onion, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Old Bay seasoning. Gently fold the ingredients together to combine, being careful not to break apart the crab meat too much. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Form the mixture into small balls or patties.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  • Test the oil's readiness by dropping a small piece of the mixture into it; if it sizzles, you’re good to go!
  • Carefully fry the balls in batches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  • Once cooked, drain the Crab Crunchies on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve them warm with lemon wedges and your choice of dipping sauces.

Notes

For extra kick, add a teaspoon of hot sauce to the mixture. Chill the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes before shaping. Pair with tartar sauce or a spicy aioli.
