Ingredients
  

Pasta and Meat

  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles Regular or oven-ready noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef Can mix with Italian sausage for flavor
  • 1 small onion, diced Adds sweetness and flavor

Sauce and Cheese

  • 4 cups marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese Adds rich, delicate texture
  • 1 large egg Binds the ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Provides gooey topping
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese Adds salty depth to the dish

Seasoning

  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning For classic Italian flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions if not using oven-ready noodles. Drain and set aside.

Cooking Beef and Sauce

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned.
  • Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Prepare Ricotta Mixture

  • In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 1/4 cup parmesan, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.

Layering

  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer 3–4 noodles over the sauce, then spread one-third of the ricotta mixture, followed by one-third of the mozzarella, and a generous layer of meat sauce.
  • Repeat layering process for three layers, finishing with noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and remaining parmesan.

Baking

  • Cover the lasagna with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

Garnishing

  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

To enhance this dish, avoid overcooking noodles and always salt the pasta water. Let the lasagna rest before slicing for better serving. Don’t skimp on cheese for an irresistible layer.
