Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti, cooked al dente Embodies a perfect bite and texture
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil Adds richness and depth
  • 6-8 cloves garlic, thinly sliced Releases an irresistible aroma
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Gives a gentle kick; adjust to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste Enhances all the flavors

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped Introduces a refreshing note
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese For serving, adds creaminess
  • Lemon wedges For serving, adds a bright zing

Instructions

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water before draining and set aside.

Cooking

  • While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until golden and fragrant, taking care not to burn the garlic.
  • Add red pepper flakes and sauté for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic and oil. If the pasta appears dry, gradually add reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss in parsley if using, and top with Parmesan cheese and a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using roasted garlic instead of fresh. Whole wheat pasta can be a healthier alternative, and you can add seasonal vegetables like spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra nutrients.
