  • 1 cup Whole wheat breadcrumbs These provide a heartier texture while adding fiber.
  • 1 large Egg Helps bind the mixture together.
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce A burst of flavor that elevates the dish.
  • 1/2 cup Diced onion Adds moisture and a subtle sweetness.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Infuses the dish with aromatic goodness.
  • 1 tsp Onion powder Enhances the onion flavor.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential for balancing the flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper A pinch of spice to elevate the taste.
  • 1 tsp Dried herbs (Optional) Personalize with thyme, oregano, or rosemary.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for even cooking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, whole wheat breadcrumbs, egg, 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, diced onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and optional dried herbs.
  • Using clean hands, mix everything until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  • Brush additional BBQ sauce on top of the meatloaf for extra flavor.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • Once cooked, let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
  • Slice into thick pieces, serve warm, and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

To keep the meatloaf extra moist, consider adding shredded veggies like zucchini or carrots into the mixture. If you want a deeper flavor, give the BBQ sauce a quick simmer before using it in the meatloaf. Feel free to experiment with different spices or sauces.
