Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This crucial step ensures that your stuffing bakes evenly.
  • Spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10–15 minutes, stirring once, until they are dry and golden.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
  • Add the diced celery and chopped onion, cooking for 7–8 minutes until they are soft and fragrant.
  • Stir in the chopped parsley, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to cook for an additional minute.
  • Gently fold the sautéed veggies and herbs into the bowl of toasted bread cubes.
  • Gradually pour in the broth while stirring, ensuring an even moisture distribution.
  • Transfer the stuffing mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, until the top is crisp and golden.

Serving

  • Allow the stuffing to cool slightly before serving hot.

Notes

For a successful stuffing, use stale or day-old bread as it holds its shape better. Taste as you go and adjust seasonings to taste. Consider adding nuts, dried fruits, or different herbs for uniqueness.
