  • Additional BBQ sauce For serving with the sandwiches.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by placing the boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • In a separate bowl, combine BBQ sauce, chicken broth, chopped onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir until mixed thoroughly.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender enough to shred.

Shredding and Serving

  • Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix it with the BBQ sauce to ensure it's well-glazed. Allow it to heat for another 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Toast the hamburger buns until golden.
  • Serve the pulled BBQ chicken on the toasted buns and garnish with sesame seeds, if desired.
  • Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Consider marinating the chicken overnight in BBQ sauce for deeper flavor. Optional extras include sliced jalapeƱos for heat or coleslaw for texture. If short on time, use leftover rotisserie chicken.
