Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, chopped onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir until mixed thoroughly.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated.

Cooking

  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender enough to shred.
  • Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix it with the BBQ sauce.
  • Allow it to heat for another 10 to 15 minutes.

Serving

  • Toast the hamburger buns until golden.
  • Serve the pulled BBQ chicken on the toasted buns and garnish with sesame seeds, if desired.
  • Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Consider marinating the chicken in BBQ sauce overnight for richer flavor. Experiment with different BBQ sauces and toppings like coleslaw or pickles.
