  • 2 medium cabbages Can use green or red cabbage.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Rich, golden olive oil enhances flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder Or use freshly minced garlic for stronger flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons smoky paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper To taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes For added heat.
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley For garnish.

Preparation

  • Slice off the stems of the cabbages and cut each cabbage into 1-inch thick rounds.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the cabbage pieces on the baking sheet, leaving space for air to circulate.
  • Brush each steak generously with olive oil, ensuring they’re all coated.
  • Sprinkle each round with kosher salt, garlic powder, paprika, and chili flakes.
  • Carefully flip each cabbage steak and repeat the seasoning on the other side.

Cooking

  • Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F).
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, flip the pieces again and continue to bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden-brown and tender.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using freshly minced garlic, and sprinkle cheese during the last few minutes of baking for an extra touch.
