  • 1 box angel food or yellow cake mix (approximately 430 g) Use angel food cake mix for a lighter texture or yellow cake mix for a denser result.
  • 1 can lemon pie filling (425 g) Canned lemon pie filling is ideal, but homemade can also be used.

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly blend the angel food or yellow cake mix with the lemon pie filling until the mixture is smooth and evenly incorporated.
  • Grease a 33 x 23 cm baking dish with nonstick spray or a thin layer of oil.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Level the top for a uniform bake.

Baking

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the bars are set in the center.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
  • Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired, then slice into squares before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the batter before baking. Storing in the refrigerator enhances flavor.
